STEP 1
With your Hario syphon you will have an upper bowl, a lower bowl, their respective stands, a measuring spoon, cloth filter, and an alcohol burner.
STEP 2
Attach the filter to the upper bowl glass stem with the metal hook.
STEP 3
Fill the glass bowl to number 3 (360ml) and add 3 measuring spoonfuls of ground coffee. Each level spoonful is 10g.
STEP 4
Make sure that the wick is only 3mm high. Luckie Beans recommend Methylated Spirit as the fuel.
STEP 5
Light the burner, the flame should be around 4cm tall.
STEP 6
Place the burner below the centre of the lower bowl.
STEP 7
Place the upper bowl at a slight angle on top of the lower bowl.
STEP 8
When the water in the lower bowl begins to boil, gently place the upper bowl in an upright position. Don’t push down hard.
STEP 9
Once the water has been pushed up into the upper bowl, push down the coffee grounds, and give it a stir.
STEP 10
Leave for 1 minute.
Step 11
Remove the burner and use the metal cap supplied to put out the flame. The coffee will now be sucked into the lower bowl leaving the coffee grounds in the upper bowl.
STEP 12
Wiggle the upper bowl gently from side to side whilst holding onto the lower bowl stand.
Step 13
Place the upper bowl back in its’ stand.
Step 14
Now your coffee is ready, pour and enjoy.
