This coffee is grown in deep layers of volcanic mineralised completely weathered soil of a dark red silty texture amongst the Kenyan Highlands.

Clean water from the River Irera is used to ferment and wash the coffee cherries in order to remove the mucilage from the coffee beans.

The Peaberry is the result of only one seed forming inside the coffee cherry. When one ovule of the cherry fails to develop, the remaining bean having no pressure from a second bean forms a rounded shape. Peaberry beans are a relatively rare occurrence & have a greater intensity of flavour.
