It's Our 1st Birthday Today

1 year ago today Luckie Beans started trading.  It's been an amazing year with a lot of highlights. We came 5th overall in the UK Coffee Roasting Championship, featured in Vogue magazine, sold coffee at Stockbridge market, and met some amazing people at both the Edinburgh & Glasgow coffee festivals and the various markets that Luckie Beans attend.  Here's to the next 12 months and turning 2. We have been smoking various coffees over the past few weeks with the fantastic Belhaven Smokehouse.  The Malawi AAA coffee was the clear winner for smoking.  Smoked over oak whisky barrel chippings for 48 hours after roasting.  Expect a soft smoke sweetness on the tongue with an aroma of sea air.  Try as an espresso with a pinch of salt or use as a rub on a steak - yummy.  Buy here.

Coffee Festivals

October was very much the month for coffee festivals in Scotland.  Luckie Beans exhibited at both the Edinburgh & Glasgow coffee festivals.  Taking along our Hario Syphons and Beam Heaters, we attracted quite a crowd.  All of our coffees were available by the cup.  It was so nice to meet so many people who liked the Luckie Beans brand, but more importantly loved the coffee!

The Very First UK Coffee Roasting Championship

We were very fortunate to be involved in the first ever UK Coffee Roasting Championship.  Held over a 3 day period, starting in Edinburgh and finishing in Glasgow, it was a memorable experience.  The only Scot in the competition, it's safe to say Jamie is number one in Scotland :)

The Distinguished Gentleman's Bike Ride

We took part in this years bike ride raising money for Prostate Cancer, dressed as a distinguished gentleman and riding a Norton Commando 850.  The Scottish rides have raised over £14600.  Luckie Beans managed to raise £100 toward this good cause.  Thanks to all who sponsored us.

Edinburgh's First Ever Coffee Festival

If you are looking for something to do on Saturday 3rd October, come along to Edinburgh's first ever coffee festival at the Mansfield Traquair.  We will be showcasing our stunning single origins and our very moreish Love Lane house blend.  We will be making coffee using our theatrical Hario halogen beam heater and syphons!  Samples will be available along with coffee to buy and bags of coffee to enjoy at home.
